WALKING IN FROM THE FRONT DOOR. IMMEDIATELY TO MY LEFT IS THE LAUNDRY ROOM, TO MY RIGHT THE BATHROOM.
This is hands down one of my favorite blog posts I’ve written. I’ve been missing Chicago so much at times it was hard to even put it into words – so when the opportunity came up for me to leave Florida, I gave it about a month of intense thought. I weighed the pros and cons. I did a lot of soul searching, and each morning I would wake up with a clear realization that Chicago is what feels right in this moment. My friends are there, and so much of my work is there. I love the energy in Chicago (minus the public transit energy! ;) and I love the creative community that lives here.
So last week, I arrived in the city for my two week stay (still here for a couple more days!) I’ve spent time with my friends, I was able to sneak in some shoots and of course, I took a full afternoon to look at places in the West Loop area. This loft in particular was my number one (I had been researching online for what felt like forever), but I had this feeling that it wouldn’t be what I thought it was. But this place? It exceeded my expectations – the landlord included.
Everything about the energy when I walked into this loft was what I was hoping I’d find. Right away I could see myself living there. I could see Jasper running around, cozying up on the sofa, enjoying the fresh air from our top floor balcony. I could imagine waking up and making coffee in that kitchen, having my friends over for vino and having the room to set up my studio gear in the living room for editorial and product shoots. It felt like home.
The landlord couldn’t have been more kind, and within days he was handing me my keys, no questions asked (other than a signed lease and first months rent, of course) I’ve slowly but surely been starting to move some things in (I left majority of my things back in Delray, only taking about a 10×5 storage unit worth to Naples which will be shipped to me in Chicago at the end of the month) – so its been fun making this place my own. Copper is the accent of choice, and so far I love how it’s coming together.
As you can see from the post title and the images, this is the “before.” The walls are being painted white while I’m back in Florida (I’ll be officially moving the last week of February) and by then the furniture that I’ve ordered (mattress, bed frame, sofa, bar stools) will start to arrive. Until then, its queen air mattress living for me ;)
So lets start the tour, shall we?!

JUST AROUND THE CORNER THERE IS THE BEDROOM.
TO THE LEFT IS THE DOOR THAT LEADS OUT TO THE BALCONY.
SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS VIEW.
So there you have it! My new living space which I have no doubt will bring so many amazing memories. Life has an awesome way of working out if you trust the process, and I’m so beyond thankful that it brought me here. Stay tuned for the “after” photos once I’m settled! If you know me at all, you know this won’t take terribly long ;) I can’t help myself. x6
