I have been on the BIGGEST smoothie kick lately.  It all started once I got super strict about working out again (I’m trying to do it 5-6 days a week, sometimes 2 a days if I really want a challenge!) and maybe it’s just my body craving something cold and fresh in the summer time, but each morning when I wake up, I b-line for the kitchen to get my hands on my favorite concoction.

I first saw the basic inspiration for this smoothie over on this blog that I’ve been reading for about 7 years now (that’s nuts – you’re awesome, Bridget!), and I’ve been making it for close to 5 years. Then I went in a different direction and stayed more on the chocolate train, but now I’m back to the basics with a few extra twists, so I’m going to share it with all of you today :)

SPINACH BANANA SMOOTHIE


1-2 bananas (frozen or fresh)

2 huge handfuls of spinach (go nuts here! I usually buy the family size container of fresh organic spinach and that will last me the week)

Handful of ice cubes (only a couple if you’re using frozen bananas)

2 cups of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 overflowing table spoon of peanut butter

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

1 teaspoon of flax oil

1/2-1 scoop of vanilla protein powder

* I use this blender and really love it

There you have it. It’s honestly my favorite smoothie ever, and I can have 1-2 a day without getting tired of it. I have a huge obsession with peanut butter, though.. so that may be it ;)  Also, there’s something so awesome about getting SO many veggies before you’ve even started your day – and such a bonus when it literally tastes like vanilla & PB!  Let me know if you try this and what you think!
