Happy Monday! I don’t know what’s been up with me lately, but I’ve started waking up at 6:30am, not quite ready to go for the day by any means, but I’m not able to fall back asleep. So, I’ve taken advantage of this whole “early rising” thing, and have started opening up my blinds to watch the sunrise right outside my window alongside some hot coffee. I’ve also been obsessed with reading this book (just finished it this morning, kind of sad!) so I think subconsciously my brain is wanting to wake up and dive in. The good news is they have two other books: this one and this one, so I’ll be starting those up today at some point.
Ever since I stopped watching TV (not really on purpose.. just hasn’t sounded good – though I should say I still watch some Netflix from time to time), I’ve listened to more music and read more books than ever. Personally, I’m just happy I remember how to read (ha). I went through such a TV addiction over the last few years which was due in part to living with someone and having that routine or tradition of shows, if you will. Now that I’m on my own path, it’s nice to really listen to myself and hear what I want and what feels good to me and me alone. I’m embracing that 100%.
Okay so today I’m back here partnering up with Luminess Air and their amazing eye kit. Unlike the other reviews I’ve done for them in the past, this doesn’t have to do with their adorable machine, and when they told me they came out with other makeup products, I know my beauty-junky self had to try ;) So lets get started.
THE EYEBROW PENCIL
Those of you who follow along on Instagram or have been reading this blog for a while now know that my eyebrows are a little sacred (haha). I’m crazy when it comes to getting them shaped (I get so nervous and tell the poor technician at least 5 times how to do it) and its one of my favorite steps in my makeup routine to fill them in a little. The one thing I noticed about this eyebrow pencil straight away, is that it gives you way more control having the pencil, as opposed to using a brush – but with that, it can come off as a little harsh when you apply, so a little really does go a long way. You want your eyebrows to look similar to your hair color.. not like you just took a Sharpie to your face ;)
A little tip for the inner part of your eyebrow, take a Q-tip and smudge. This will release some of the harsh lines and leaving that part looking more natural.
As far as it’s staying power, I didn’t notice any smudging by the time I was getting ready for bed.
THE EYESHADOW PALETTE
Lucky for you guys, Luminess Air has upgraded this palette, so all of these shades can be found in their new Naughty & Nude Palette. (a little embarrassed to type the name,. but the shades are amazing) The ones you see above are usually the only ones I’ll use and are perfect for layering. I’m not one to really wear eyeshadow all that much, but when I do, I always go neutral. My eyes are hazel, bordering on green, so purples and golds suit me best to bring out the color of my eyes, so I stayed towards the left of this palette. The powder is super lightweight and the one thing I noticed (and loved), is that it didn’t look thick or caked on when I layered the colors. The far left shade was perfect for my inner eyes and right below my brow line.
I have eyelash extensions (my main vice – I’ll admit it) so I don’t need mascara for my day to day look, but when I’m heading out to dinner or it’s a special occasion, I’ll put on a light layer. This mascara is SO smooth. Really, it’s like silk. Zero clumping, and it did such a lovely job of coating each individual lash. I actually had someone comment on my lower lashes (when does that ever happen?! haha) telling me they looked so lovely and long (they’re not long at all, actually) But this mascara does it’s job. The only thing was that it took a little bit of labor to rinse off at night, but its certainly something I would buy and use again.
All in all I loved these three items, especially the neutral eyeshadow palette and mascara. Unfortunately the eyeshadow palette is out of stock at the moment (popular item!) but should be back in stock hopefully by the end of the month, so definitely check back on that.
