Minimalist Beauty: My Winter Skincare Routine (Plus a Giveaway!)

My Minimalist Winter Skincare Routine and a Giveaway - The Calm Collective

One of my favorite (favorite, favorite) subjects to talk about on this blog is safe and maintainable skincare. I never want to be someone who has a million products floating around in my bathroom (this used to be me!) only for a small percentage of them to get used and the rest go to waste. Plus it made traveling light that much more difficult.  These days, I try to keep it between 5-8 products max, whether that’s within my makeup routine or my skincare and preferably natural organic products.  Summer is a bit more maintainable, since it’s the season of less is more. The humidity serves it’s purpose to hydrate your skin naturally, and all you’re really required to do is wear a good SFP.  Winter on the other hand?  Tis the season for dry, tight skin and chapped lips.

Here are the products in my vanity for my winter minimalist skincare routine

Damn Good Face Wash: AM & PM

If you love dewy, smooth, hydrated skin and want to look forward to washing your face – look no further. I’ve raved about this stuff since I started using it a year ago as it’s my favorite skin care product that I own. Not only does it make your face smell like heaven, but it makes it look incredibly fresh.  My favorite way to apply is by having damp skin and using about 1/2 tsp. Rub it all of your face & massage into your skin for about 1-2 minutes. Rinse with warm water (it’ll feel slippery and like it’s still on your face – it is!) I then take a clean washcloth and gently wipe away the access.  It’s literally like a face wash and a moisturizer in one. It’s good for all skin types, too, so don’t worry!

Damn Good Toner: PM

The smell is a tad off putting as it’s got Apple Cider Vinegar in it, but you’ll get used to it, and quite honestly it works too good to care.  Just use a cotton swab and a tiny bit of the toner and wipe it all over your face. It’s crazy how much dirt comes off!  Toner is one of the best ways to get your skin back to it’s ideal pH levels, and also rids your skin of access dirt and provides a more even skin tone. It’s not something worth skipping out on (I didn’t use toner for years)

Glossier Vitamin C serum: AM

This come out like water, so be careful when using the dropper that it doesn’t go everywhere!  It doesn’t have much of a scent, but gives you a really clear, fresh glow.  I usually let this sit in for about 10 minutes before I move onto applying moisturizer/SPF.

Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturizer: Throughout the day

Easily my favorite beauty product (that also doubles as a skin care product) I first tried it when I was given a sample while flying Delta, and I was so depressed when it ran out.  I’ve never had a lip moisturizer be this effective, and not only that, it’s smooth on your lips and not at all sticky.  It gives it the perfect shine without being over the top, and the best part? I haven’t had cracked, chapped lips yet this winter. It’s worth the price tag in my opinion.

Damn Good Body Butter: Throughout the day

A winter must have for your haneds.  Not only will this give your hands an insane amount of hydration, but the tub is so easy to travel with and it works great as a cuticle cream.

Glossier Bounce Serum: PM

I apply this right after the toner and before my moisturizer.  This serum is a bit more creamy and a little goes a long way. I use it all over my face and my neck, and let it soak in for about 10 minutes.

Keihls 35 SPF Moisturizer: AM

I feel like I’ve tried a million and one sunscreens and they either went on way too thick or made me break out like crazy. Keihls is by far my favorite, lasts forever, and doesn’t block my pores.

Kiss My Face Unscented Lotion: PM

Using this as my nighttime face moisturizer kind of happened by accident. I ran out of what I was using before, so I decided to use it on a whim one night after applying it on my body (it’s a super safe body lotion that’s unscented) It worked really well, and I’ve been using it every night since.
