Okay, okay. I know juicing isn’t for everyone. But I stand pretty confident in saying that if majority of the population closed their eyes while drinking healthy juices, they’d be pleasantly surprised ;) Also, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that the benefits you get some juicing are through the roof. More energy (without the crash), your daily intake of your fruits & veggies (and then some), and a super healthy way to start or end your day. I prefer to do this first thing in the morning before I drink my coffee – sometimes I find myself skipping the java all together on days that I juice.
I’ve tried a lot of recipes throughout the years, but this one remains my favorite. It’s sweet, and the ginger gives it a little spice kick – but remember, a little bit of ginger goes a LONG way ;) I learned that the hard way!
OK, let’s make juice!
You’ll also need a juicer (a blender really does not give you the same consistency as a juicer. The texture will end up super frothy, with a lot of pulp getting stuck in your teeth. More than that, it’s super thick and unpleasant to drink. There are a lot of juicers out on the market, but this one is my favorite. I also prefer to use these biodegradable bags for the pulp catcher which makes cleaning up a breeze. ;)
– Assemble your juicer accordingly (make sure you don’t load any fruits or veggies in the chute until you’ve started the motor)
– Wash your fruits and veggies with water or a veggie wash spray
– Load your fruits and veggies in the chute. I mix them up to ensure my juice isn’t layered by item. (does that even make sense?!) My general amounts are as follows: 4 green apples, 2 bunches of celery stalks, 4 cups of kale (ripped), 8 mint leaves & 1 small slice of ginger (about the size and thickness of a quarter)
– Don’t put the limes in the juicer. I add the limes at the very end by squeezing the juice out of them into my glass (3 full limes is my preferred amount)
