Happy Monday, loves.
This past week was.. well, I hate the word, but it was busy. I’ll be the first to admit that I bit off more than I could chew, and my work/life balance took a major hit. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s always a learning curve when this happens. We get through it, we forgive, and then we re-access to see how we can change it moving forward.
For instance, photography is booming right now which I am so, so grateful for – but I realized I hadn’t taken any time for self care. Not even a little bit. My bubble bath? My phone was in there with me and I was adding photos from my last shoot to Instagram. Eating dinner and watching a Netflix show? Editing at the same time. You get the idea.
So how do I plan on fixing this state of overwhelm? 3 things:
• Leaving 2 days a week to be completely empty. This is so I can play catch up, immerse myself in self care, and spend time with friends that doesn’t feel rushed or distracting.
• Working out in the morning after my coffee. I savor my morning coffee and love spending time to journal before my day begins, so this isn’t something that I want to give up. But I also know that when I work out before my day begins, I feel so much calmer and aligned.
• Booking no more than 2 shoots a day. (unless they’re mini sessions!) This gives me time to decompress throughout the day and to also focus on this blog and the podcast.
I wanted to share this with you because I think it’s crucial that you all know that I, the author of this mindful, conscious living blog still have slip ups from time to time. It’s called being human – so just in case you’ve painted this picture that my life is slow and steady, whimsical and organized, 100% mindful and self-aware… I, just like you, am learning as I go. x4
