2018 Valentine’s Day Gift Guide (His & Hers)

I’ll be the very first to admit that Valentine’s Day for me just isn’t all that… romantic. I’ve never really looked at it that way, to be honest.  My most fond memories of the holiday are actually being little, and creating all of those little crafts to hand out to my friends at school.  Then, you enter middle school and the staff some how thinks its a smart idea to allow “secret valentines and admirers.” Did you guys have anything like that?  Our school would have someone in charge of handing out anonymous Valentine’s cards (in high school it was a rose) to your crush. This was always kind of exciting, I’ll admit.  But there was always that underlying feeling of — but what if I don’t get anything? Or maybe you do, but your best friend doesn’t. It’s just… weird.

Then we grow up, and we make our own decisions on how we’ll celebrate the hallmark holiday, and we find peace in that. For me, this means I’m usually buying something little for my sister, my mom, my best friends and my guy. Nothing major, and usually something I know they wouldn’t gift for themselves (isn’t that the best kind?!)

Speaking of which, I love looking at Valentine’s Day as a time to emerge in some major self care. Single or not. Go get a massage, get a mani/pedi, get a facial. Maybe get a haircut, or buy yourself something nice.  Head to the farmers market or the flower section of Whole Foods and pick out your own roses or mixed bouquet. If you want a donut — go get one girl. If you want to get your lashes tinted (I just did this… more on that soon), go on with your bad self.  Valentine’s Day is for every one… not just every couple.

Please remember that if you’re on the other side of this computer screen feeling anxious and physically rejecting the hallmark holiday.

So whether you have a partner or not, I’ve got a slew of really simple (yet practical) gift ideas, should you want to give (anyone) in your life a little something sweet this year. Here we go!

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: His and Hers

Lunya Washable Silk Pajama Set

One of my good friends told me about these pajamas, and now we’re both hooked. They don’t wrinkle, they’re incredibly low maintenance, offer a variety of different color options and are insanely charming and beautiful.  It sounds silly to say (and I’m actually blushing typing this), but I feel incredibly sexy and just.. sophisticated, every time I put these on.

Lace Bralettes

This two pack of gorgeous lace bralettes are not only on major sale, but they’re a staple piece to have in a women’s closet. They instantly elevate any outfit without any effort.

Chasing Slow by Erin Lochner

One of my all time favorite books. Erin writes this book from such an honest, vulnerable place and makes you feel like one of her girlfriend just cozied up on her couch while she tells you a story.  She’s been such an influential figure in my life since starting out on this journey, and her book is both incredibly thoughtful and charmingly witty.

Also: some of my other favorite books for slowing down.

Pure & Coco Coconut Oil 5-In-1 Exfoliant

This was gifted to me by the sweet husband and wife who make this homemade goodness, and there aren’t enough good things I can say about it.  If you need any validation if it’s worth having, just ask Chris. I used it in the shower and immediately after he mentioned how insanely soft my skin was. Since it’s designed to be a “one stop shop” beauty product, I applied it to my face as a face wash and makeup remover, my legs for shaving cream, all over for body wash & exfoliant, and it dries as a moisturizer, so no need for lotion!

PS: stay tuned or a giveaway with Pure & Coco next week! :)

Earth is Hiring by Peta Kelly

This woman is INCREDIBLE. I listened to a podcast with her as a guest, and I was nodding my head the whole time. This book is perfect for the woman who vibes with the universe, is into vibrations, has a hippie side, and is just in constant motion to better herself and live her best life (basically, she reads this blog and loves it ;)

Mindful Memo To Do List

Shameless plug. I know, I know. But it’s only because I really believe in this method of a set up for prioritize your day to day tasks — and adding self reflection and positive reinforcement in the process.  One of the best things about this notepad is that it’s small enough to take with you on the go and throw in your purse.  So if you know someone who’s a to-do list junkie like yours truly, I’m happy to provide :)

Marble Swell Water Bottle

Alongside my Yeti, my Swell bottle is one of the best things that I own.  I bring it with me whenever I travel, too.  It’s the perfect gift for anyone in your life, really. Male or female, your partner or your sister, your best friend or your cousin. You get the point.

Dohm White Noise Sound Machine

I’ve always had to sleep with a loud fan on, which of course left me freezing in the middle of the night (I’m always cold) Chris bought this for us a few months ago and it’s dramatically changed the way that we sleep now.  So much so, he bought one for all of  his family members and friends this year for Christmas.  This is another one of those gifts thats good for anyone in your life, hands down.

Superga Cotu Sneakers

You’ve heard me talk about these shoes over here, and they’re hands down my favorite every day shoes I’ve ever worn. So much so, my sister got them for me in olive with wool fabric. If you’re looking to give the gift that keeps on giving, you can’t go wrong with these shoes. The bonus? They wash up beautifully in the washer.

Glossier Glow Vitamin C Serum

My daily serum that I apply underneath my sunscreen, and its made such a difference in my skin tone appearance.  Glossier is one of my favorite brands of all time, and that’s because what they make actually works.  The bonus? Their branding and packaging is so on point that it makes giving anything by Glossier as a gift so easy to hand right on over.

Your Illustrated Guide To Becoming One With The Universe

I was given this thought provoking yet charming little book by one of my friends Sammie a few years ago, and it still remains a favorite. The intention is to be incredibly light hearted, to make you laugh, and to help you better understand yourself as a person cohabitation with the Universe. The perfect gift for anyone who’s curious, fun loving and open minded.

C.C Confetti Beanie Hat

These are my forte beanies in the entire world. (wearing it here!)  They’re so warm, but they don’t overheat your head, and they have that extra room at the top where it slouches just right.  They have so many colors, but I love the playfulness of this natural one.

XO: Instant Download Print by Cassandra Photo

From my print shop, this minimalist XO print is perfect for Valentine’s Day.  It’s available immediately upon purchase, and you can have it printed in a variety of sizes at any local printer, FedEx or online at shops like Artifact Uprising (my favorite) where they’ll print the item for you, too.  Plus it’s under $10!

This is also a great print for simple home decor.

Neutral Chunky Knit Throw Blanket

These blankets are SO insanely soft, and are worth the price tag when it comes to giving a thoughtful gift that will no doubt be used time and time again throughout the years, and it goes with any space.

Also loving this one. It’s new on my list.

Soda Stream

The absolute perfect gift for any human who has an addiction to La Croix (guilty!) This gadget has not only saved me money, but it’s dismissed any and all fears of the possibility of running out of my beloved “fuzzy water” as we call it. The bonus? It comes in both white and black which blend in with just about any kitchen counter.

Wanderlust + Co Earrings

I love the subtly of the mint and gold colors, and how subtle yet gorgeous these earrings are. You could wear them every day — whether you’re dressing up or dressing down.

And how amazing are these? A statement, but minimal at the same time.

La Mer Moisturizing Cream

Chances are, you’ve heard about this cream before. Thats because it’s worth talking about — so much so that everyone and their mother has tried it.  This is truly one of the best self care gifts you could give to the woman(en) in your life, considering its a little bit of a splurge.

Matcha Latte Mix & Milk Frother

Matcha powder is my new obsession, and I make one every single day now that I have my portable frother. You can’t have one without the other (otherwise the powder doesn’t blend well).  I’ll be sharing my 60 second recipe here on the blog on Friday, so stay tuned!

Also loving this beautiful yet simple tea kettle.

Ceramic Cup Set

I have such a love for ceramics (its on my list of things to learn this year!) and these little cups are perfect for the aforementioned matcha lattes. I also love that they’re multipurpose, so they don’t have to be designated to your kitchen.

These are equally as amazing and I can’t take my eyes off of them.

Elevate Me Wrap Sweatshirt

If I’ve learned anything throughout my journey with fitness, its that I want to love the clothes I’m wrapping myself in when I’m at the gym. This wrap sweatshirt is so incredibly soft, and the perfect before and after piece when heading to yoga, pilates or a spin class (especially in February)

Amber & Smoke Soy Wax Candle

You all know my love for candles, and you can’t go wrong with this one. Not only for it’s feminine yet masculine scent, but the jar in itself can be reused around the home for decor. A win/win in my book.

Also: another one of my favorite amber scented candles.

And now for the men in your life…

Secura Stainless Steel French Press

I love the vibe of this modern yet timeless French press.  Can we all agree that coffee tastes one hundred times before when it comes out of a French press?! The perfect gift for the man in your life who can’t get through the morning with out his 1-2 cups.

Stone Street Organic Whole Bean Coffee

Speaking of coffee, this is one of my all time favorite beans. The bonus? They’re available on Amazon Prime which makes it that much easier when it comes to staying on top of my order.  It’s probably no surprise to any of you that I love the branding as well.

Ceramic Coffee Mug

Consider this a coffee gift pack.  The French press, the whole beans, and this incredible handcrafted mug.  I love the roughness of it, and how it’s so perfectly imperfect. You get what I mean by that, right? :)

Brickwell Men’s Anti Aging Nighttime Routine

I actually gifted this line to Chris for his birthday and he LOVES it. He had never used a skincare routine before, and this one is extremely straight forward and not in the least bit overwhelming.  The branding is on point, and dare I say the products actually work?!

Kinfolk Entrepreneur Coffee Table Book

I’m a fan of this book, and we actually own a copy. Kinfolk is one of my favorite magazines/companies on the planet, and they’ve done it again with this collection of inspiring, fresh ideas from people all over the world doing amazing things.

Also: Kinfolk’s cookbook is amazing.

ulio&jack Solid Cologne

I’ve mentioned this stuff time and time again on this blog and thats because the scent is out of this world. (Explorer is my favorite) Chris wears it, we gift it to everyone we know, and I won’t stop until every man on the planet is wearing this because it’s intoxicating.

Nordstrom Gray Jogger Pants

The perfect casual pant to come home to after a super long day.  These pants aren’t offensive should you want to leave the house, which is what I love most about them.  They’re structured, yet comfortable.

Timex Watch

I love how timeless this watch is. To me, when I look at it, I feel like it could easily become an heirloom. Something that’s passed down for generations – regardless if it’s a male or female who’s doing the inheriting. Such a great brand and company with a really decent price tag.

Gray RayBans

You can never go wrong with these three things: anything gray, Ray Bans, and an extra pair of sunglasses – just in case. You don’t even want to know how many pairs I’ve misplaced, and I feel like that’s just the human condition. BUT, when they’re nice sunglasses, I manage to keep a close eye. No fatalities yet!  I love how simple and clean this design is.

Traverse City Whiskey Co. Cocktail Cherries

Okay, okay. I may be in love with the owner, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that these cocktail cherries are to die for. (and the bonus is that you can now get them on Amazon Prime) They’re handpicked in Michigan and they taste like heaven. It’s as simple as that. The perfect gift for the guy who appreciates making craft cocktails. (but this also goes super well with cheesecake… just saying)

Copper Cocktail Set

I’m swooning over this cocktail set myself, but going hand in hand with the cocktail cherries, this set is perfect for the cocktail lover in your life – and someone looking to up his hosting game when friends come over.

Bees Knees Spicy Honey

Have you guys heard about this honey? It’s supposed to be all the rage and I’m dying to try it. I don’t know about you, but I love anything spicy. And staying on trend with the cocktail chatter, can you imagine this in a hot toddy?! Yum.
